View from the hotel

After a day's Metrorail adventure, it's time to enjoy the view from the hotel balcony and take a dip in the pool. See you later. Click here to return to the Metro Adventurers blog.

Dade County Courthouse

As majestic as ever.

Government Center Station

Waiting for the south bound Metrorail.

Downtown Miami

Looking at Downtown Miami from the Omni District a new generation of buildings can be seen.

Omni Station

Looking at the Miami Herald Building and a Metromover from the Omni Station. From here we head back to Government Center and go back to the hotel.

Omni Station (approach)

Taken as we pass the the Miami Herald Building.

The Miami Herald Building (approach)

The Miami Herald.

Theatre of the Performing Arts

The buildings are sponsored by Carnival Cruise Lines. I think the buildings do look like cruise ships. If you look in between the two buildings you can see the old Sears Tower.

Heading into the Omni District

Here's a shot overlooking Biscayne Boulevard and Bayfront Park.

Bayfront Park Station

At Bayfront Park we transfer to the Omni Outer Loop - even more construction! If you squint, you can see the cruise ship in the background.

Knight Center Station

Station platform and metromover.

Knight Center Station (appraoch)

Office workers can go from Metromover to their office door at this convenient station location. This building is frequently uplit a variety of colors at different times of the year and is probably Miami's best known office building (formerly known as the I.M. Pei Building - the building's architect).

The Miami River

As we head back to Downtown, we cross the Miami River, home to many movie scenes.

Fifth Street Station

This station is close to the new Mary Brickell Village project (similar to Cocowalk). You can learn about it here. MBV is almost complete but not yet open.

Heading into Brickell Village

As we head into Brickell Village, I count nine construction cranes in this picture.

Brickell Outer Loop

As we begin to head south, you can see Third Street Station and the Knight Center Station.

Government Center Station transfer to Metromover

If you are interested in real estate development, Metromover gives a great tour of new projects in Downtown Miami. You can learn about Miami's Donwtown Development Authority here, and Miami 21 here.

Brickell Station

You will see some pictures of the booming development along the Brickell Metromover Loop in later posts.

Vizcaya Station

You can learn about Vizcaya Palace & Gardens here.

Coconut Grove Metrorail Station

We begin our adventure at the Coconut Grove Station and add a new adventurer to our party. You can take a "tour" of Coconut Grove here or here.
